Change boarding station after ticket booking

IRCTC allows passengers to change boarding stations after booking the tickets. Apart from that passengers can also book online meals, flight tickets, booking lounges on the railway station, etc. Passengers can only change their boarding station if they have booked their tickets online. If you have booked your tickets through travel agents or Passenger Reservation System then you won’t be able to change your barding station. Passengers have to change their boarding station before chart preparation and if the chart is prepared then they can not change their boarding point. 

Here are the guidelines

  •         The boarding point can be changed only once.
  •         If your ticket is seized, you will not be able to modify your boarding point.
  •         For I-Ticket, changing your boarding point online is not allowed.
  •         Passengers who book PNRs with the VIKALP option will not be able to modify their boarding points.
  •         Passengers can only change their boarding point 24 hours before the scheduled train departure.

Steps for changing boarding points

  •         Open the IRCTC official website or application.
  •         Login to your account using username and password.
  •       Go to My Account, then my transactions and then Booked Ticket History
  •         Select your ticket for which you want to change your boarding point then choose the option ‘Change Boarding Point’.
  •         A pop-up window with a list of stations between the specified train route and the current location will appear. Select your preferred boarding location.
  •         When the station system prompts you for confirmation, select “OK” to modify your ticket’s boarding point.
  •         If the boarding station is successfully modified, an alert message will show.
  •         A message with the changed boarding point will be sent to the phone number you provided while booking your tickets.
